An Oregon TV station just aired a news story that shines a spotlight on the recent prostitution sting in Bend, where The Black Lens novel takes place.
That sting operation resulted in freedom for one 19-year-old woman who had been a victim of sex trafficking since she was 13.
“We understand how devastating human trafficking is in society,” Bend Police Lt. Clint Burleigh told KTVZ. “And we are actively committed to ending sex trafficking in Central Oregon.”
The reporter interviewed three anti-trafficking advocates, who discussed trafficking on a hyper-local level:
- Christopher Stollar, author of The Black Lens novel
- Kevin Fritz, chief strategy officer at The Guardian Group
- Nita Belles, founder of In Our Backyard
KTVZ also mentioned ways people can join the fight, such as by attending an upcoming event with The Guardian Group.
